Optus Small-Sided Football
In 2009, FFA in conjunction with Member Federations, Zones Associations and Clubs will continue the roll out of Small-Sided Games, now known as Optus Small-Sided Football. FFA is delighted to welcome Optus to the team, as the official partner of the Game Development Program, a key component of FFA’s national strategic framework to improve football at all levels of the game. In 2008 Optus Small-Sided Football was implemented in varying age groups to over 70,000 children in all Member Federations.
The feedback from the first full season of Optus Small-Sided Football has been extremely positive from Member Federations right down to the parents and supporters. The response to the smaller fields and reduced playing numbers with an emphasis on player development has been very encouraging. The clubs and parents of the children have seen that children are becoming better footballers and enjoying their football experience much more as a result of being involved and touching the ball more often. In the second year of the roll out, the education of this message and ensuring the Optus Small-Sided Football formats remain consistent from club to club and state to state are the main priorities.
Throughout the year Auselite, FCA and CC Strikers will be offering a range of professional coaching clinics for ALL age groups including sessions during pre season, mid-season and post-season. There will be soccer-camps during the school holidays in January, April, July and October. Players will be given coaching relevant to their age and ability.

From July 21st until the end of the football season all games scheduled to be played on the main field at Plateau Park will now be played at Nolans Reserve.
This is due to works being carried out on the main field by a pipe drilling company which has a contract to put a submarine cable out to sea. Yes, unbelievable as it may sound Plateau Park was chosen as the spot to bore the hole to sink the cable. This work is expected to take three (3) months or more so our best option was to relocate the games from the main field to Nolans Reserve. Games allocated to the ¾ field will not be affected.
The pipe drilling area will be fenced off completely.
If your team trains at Plateau Park all we can ask is common sense prevails and everyone works together to get a equal area to train.
We apologise for this disruption but it was out of the clubs control.
Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.

Coaching Coordinators give Coaching Support
In addition to age coordinators who handle the administration of teams and age groups, in 2007 Strikers introduced 'Coaching Coordinators' to support the work of team coaches. Coaching Coordinators can be contacted for help and advice and may be able to attend coaching sessions to provide 'hands-on' support.

Out of Area Gala Days/Competitions
Strikers encourages its teams to compete in out of area gala days. Gala days run through the season across Sydney and Central Coast, generally on Sundays.
Competing in such events has many advantages: players get to measure and improve their skill levels against teams from further afield; the travel experience helps teams and players 'bond'; players get to experience knock-out competition; and the name of the Strikers gets known among the wider football community.
The Tip Top Coaching website is the ultimate portal for junior soccer coaches and players. Developed as part of Tip Top's ongoing commitment to grassroots soccer, it provides both coaches and players with all the information needed to help develop their skills.
The valuable coaching content which was captured in the Tip Top Coaching DVD can now be streamed from the website for everyone to enjoy. There are videos with technical advice from Frank Farina on areas such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defence, goalkeeping, fitness and much more. Frank will also be answering weekly questions from players and coaches needing expert advice on any facet of the game.
Other features of the interactive website include a discussion forum for coaches, expert nutritional advice, cool downloads and games. Players can also upload videos of themselves in action to claim the glory of Goal of the Month!
Coaches can play an important role in preventing sport rage. While sport rage is often the result of many factors, coaches can help reduce incidents by creating a positive sporting environment.
To help coaches, the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation has produced a rage prevention guide which can be viewed HERE
