Out Of Area Gala Days
Out of Area Gala Days/Competitions
Strikers encourages its teams to compete in out of area gala days. Gala days run through the season across Sydney and Central Coast, generally on Sundays.
Competing in such events has many advantages: players get to measure and improve their skill levels against teams from further afield; the travel experience helps teams and players 'bond'; players get to experience knock-out competition; and the name of the Strikers gets known among the wider football community. Strikers teams have competed in many such events in the past; including the Under 14s going to Vanuatu in 2002 and 2003, and the Gold Coast Champions Cup in 2005; the 2003 Under 10/1s competing in the Belmore Soccer Club event; the 2005 Under 10/1s making the semi-finals of the Parramatta Eagles Gala Day in 2005, and the 2001, 2003 and 2004 Strikers Cup squads and the 2005 Under 10/2s competing in the Killarney Gala Day.
With effect from 2008: -
Competing teams will, in ages 9 and above, be the Strikers top division team in that age group, or a squad specifically chosen by the Grading Committee for that competition. If for any reasons players cannot travel/compete then the next highest graded player in that age group will be invited to join the team (as per either grading at the start of the season or the specific trial for that team). In the case of ungraded sub junior teams, any team may enter an out-of-area gala day/competition;
Invitations to compete in specific out-of-area gala days and competitions received by specific teams will be considered as invitations to the Club, if the Club is to consider any form of financial or in-kind support;
Team managers must verify their entries with the Club (via Age Coordinators) before entering. In addition, in line with Football NSW regulations, the Club must be notified of all entries in out-of-area gala days and competitions and complete a Football NSW Sanction Form to extend their insurance beyond the MWFA area. Teams can attract sponsors (so long as they do not conflict with existing Club sponsors) and undertake necessary fundraising for their trips (please advise details of potential sponsorship arranges to the club sponsorship coordinator via email to
;
Entry fees, transport, accomodation and other expenses are the responsibility of the competing team; and
All teams competing in out-of-area gala days and competitions are asked to provide a report on their participation, along with photographs, for the Club's promotional purposes.
